Why Microbial Testing Is Critical

  Cannabis is an organic product that can support the growth of harmful microbes if not handled and processed correctly. Smoking, vaping, or ingesting contaminated cannabis may expose users to dangerous organisms, especially for immunocompromised or medical patients.

Regulatory agencies now require microbial testing for all cannabis products before they hit the market—making it both a legal obligation and a public safety priority.

What We Test For

 

Using cutting-edge microbiological techniques and DNA-based qPCR analysis, Cannalab Laboratory screens for:

  • Total Yeast and Mold Count (TYMC) 
  • Total Aerobic Bacteria Count (TAMC) 
  • Pathogens of Concern: 
    • Escherichia coli (E. coli) 
    • Salmonella spp. 
    • Aspergillus spp. (A. flavus, A. fumigatus, A. niger, A. terreus)
       

These tests meet or exceed state cannabis testing requirements and are designed to detect even low levels of contamination with rapid turnaround.
