Residual Solvents

What Are Residual Solvents

Solvents are widely used in cannabis extraction processes—but if not fully removed, they can leave behind dangerous residues. At Cannalab Laboratory, we provide precise residual solvent testing to ensure your concentrates, vape products, and edibles meet safety standards and deliver clean, contaminant-free experiences.  Residual solvents are trace amounts of chemicals left behind from the extraction process. These solvents, if not properly purged, can pose health risks when inhaled or consumed. Common extraction solvents include:

  • Butane
  • Propane
  • Ethanol
  • Heptane
  • Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Acetone
  • Hexane

Cannalab Laboratory detects and quantify even the smallest traces of these solvents—well below state regulatory limits.

Why Testing for Residual Solvents Matters

  • Consumer Safety: Inhaling or ingesting solvent residues can lead to respiratory, neurological, or organ damage.

  •  Product Quality: Clean, fully purged products are smoother, safer, and more desirable to consumers.

  •  Brand Trust: A COA that confirms your product is solvent-free enhances your credibility and competitiveness.

Products We Test

  • Concentrates (shatter, wax, crumble)
  • Vape oils and cartridges
  • Distillates
  • Edibles and tinctures
